Waiting Game

No big news from today's doctor appointment.

We'll go in on Tova's due date next week, January 6th!

That is, if she doesn't show up in the meantime.

Love, d&k.

Merry Christmas!

We've had a very lovely week of celebrating Christmas!
The extent of our Christmas decor in our apartment.

Kallie's doctor appointment went well, but no real news. No dilation as of the Tuesday before Christmas (that was at 38 weeks). We'll keep our fingers crossed for tomorrow (39 weeks), but aren't expecting much.

On Christmas Eve, we met Kallie's mom, dad, and Grandma at David's mom's house for Hank's homemade pizza and some presents. We had a lovely time. David got his "dad shoes" and his mom made us an incredibly sweet slideshow reading of an adorably illustrated baby book - about a baby in the womb for the last few days. It was great.

Kal's dad, mom, and Grandma.
He's happier than he looks! David has barely taken these off since.

We headed to Lakeland with Kallie's family and hung out at the hotel for a little bit. Then to our home for dinner and relaxing.

The next morning, Kal's family came back over and we opened presents, played cards, and snacked until heading to David's dad's house for Christmas Day. We had lots of terrific food with David's family and Keith even came over, which was a special treat! We had a great time. David especially enjoyed trying out Morgan's new RipStick on the street. Morgan and her sister, Megan, are much better at it than David. He doesn't like that very much. Kallie's parents and Grandma left to go back to Tallahassee that afternoon and we headed back to Lakeland shortly after.

That evening, we headed into Auburndale to hang out with our lovely friend, Katie. She leaves for Utah on Tuesday! We had a great time spending a few hours with her family, as always. Can't believe Katie is leaving, but she'll be back in three months. We wish her the best and are excited about her little adventure!

Friday was a gorgeous day, so we drove out to Cocoa Beach and had a wonderful time. Lunch on a rooftop patio on the beach, reading magazines in the sand, and a perfect sunset. Missing it already.

Saturday we saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in Tampa and loved it! It's a superb flick and we recommend it. Then we had lunch outside in the beautiful weather and people watched before shopping a bit at the mall. It was another great day.
Kallie's new Swatch and shirt - fun with birthday money.

That evening, our friend, Sarah, came to stay with us. Her bf and David's old roommate, Adam, is playing a flag football tournament at USF this week. On Sunday we went and watched him play a game against Rutgers and then the four of us had dinner and caught up. Sarah stayed with us again last night - she's the best house guest! She brought us hot cocoa mix and the best chocolate covered pretzels ever. And she folded everything back up so nicely!! Kallie doesn't have to crawl around on the floor to get everything back together. It's the best. You should all wish your guests were as great as Sarah. Just saying.

Maybe tomorrow's doc appointment will give us some indication of Tova's arrival, but maybe not. We'll be sure to let you know!

Much love and wishes of hope and happiness,

Kerchief Bibs!

Kallie sewed these a couple weeks ago. They're pretty great and will do wonders catching drool and spit-up.

[ps: haha, apparently I should make it clear that these are for Tova, but they fit me, so there's a photo of my wearing one.]

Congrats, Clay and Bethany!

Clay and Bethany's rehearsal went well on Friday. The dinner was lovely - Clay's dad grilled massive amounts of ribs (!) for the huge group of people! It was very beautiful and a fun atmosphere. We laughed a lot, which is typical of being around Clay and his buddies. It was a lot of fun. Then we went over to Matt and Rachel's house to catch the end of their Christmas party! It was so great to see everyone and we continued to have a great night.

After a quick sleep, we woke up and headed back to Tampa for the wedding. It was beautiful and so much fun. It's great when weddings aren't hectic and the air isn't filled with anxiety and everything else. We had a wonderful time and Kallie took a few photos (all here).
as Pastor Zunz mentions that Clay didn't like David so much when they first met.
the parents coming up to pray around the happy couple
haha- fresh breath!

After the wedding, we changed and ran some errands in Brandon. Then we watch Jim Carrey's Grinch movie, which Kallie had never seen. She may have been expecting more from it, but it was fun watching a silly Christmas movie.

Sunday was church and later our new friends, Heather and Ian, and their little Layla, came over for a while. It was really nice having new friends over! We're so excited about Access church and everything that's in store. It's a great thing and we're really glad we moved to Lakeland when we did. :)

Kallie is 38 weeks along tomorrow (Tuesday). This was taken last night:
whoa, that's a belly!

Tennis Pro

David played tennis twice this week! On Monday, he played with a coworker and played his best yet. (That doesn't mean he won or anything.) Then on Wednesday, Keith and Savannah came over from Brandon. The boys played tennis for a short while until the speakers announced to us that we needed to leave - the park was closing. We came back to the home and cooked dinner, followed by a walk downtown to see the lights. No surprise here - everything was closing by the time we wanted dessert, so we drove to Starbucks. Disappointing that nothing is ever open here, but a fun night nonetheless.

Kallie's 37 week appointment went well. Everything is right on target - Tova is strong and healthy. We might have more to tell next week. We think the doc does a more "thorough investigation" as to what's going on and how Kallie is progressing. So we'll see!

Yesterday was Morgan's 10th birthday!! Happy birthday, Morgan!!!

Loving our Bible study group. We had a great discussion last night.

Today - David gets off work early. His best man, Clay, is getting married tomorrow, so we're headed to the rehearsal and dinner. It'll be a fun evening!

All the photos.

Mostly for parents and relatives:

Kallie uploaded all of our photos since May onto KBP's photo proofs website. CLICK HERE to see them all. You can order them, too, if you like, but that gives KBP a profit, which is unnecessary for our personal photos! Therefore, we'll make it so you can download the ones you want onto your computer. When you click on a photo and mouse over it, the download option should show in the top left corner of the picture. Enjoy!

Also to note, Logan, who took our portraits, is an architecture student at USF. He's incredibly talented. He and some friends have an etsy shoppe, Ketchhaus, where they sell really neat wood creations, like clocks and storage cubes. You should check it out!

Christmas Events

Friday night, we helped set up for Parker Street Christmas. Parker Street is down the road from our apartment, and it's basically the ghetto. Most of the homeless people hang out around there, too. Parker Street Ministries rents out the church on the corner of Parker Street and Massachusetts for their Christmas store event. The idea is that churches from all over Lakeland go buy good Christmas gifts and donate them. Then, the gifts get repriced at about 10% the retail and sold to parents and kids to give as their Christmas presents. Our church, Access, headed up the smaller kids store - where we had about 30 kids come in and shop for their families. Gifts were 25 cents to a dollar. Half of our group walked through the store with the kids and the other half wrapped up the gifts for the kiddos. The actual event happened on Saturday and was great success.

Friday night after setting up, we went into downtown for the Art Walk. Access had a big booth set up with photos, paintings, t-shirts, etc., from people that go to our church. It was fun just hanging out and getting hot chocolate with friends. It was really cold and felt a lot like Christmas.

Saturday before Parker Street, our good friend, Logan, drove into Lakeland from Tampa and took some portraits of the two of us. We had a great time hanging out and walking around downtown Lakeland. Photos will be up soon.

Also - shout out to Catherine, David's step-sis, who moved to Louisiana this weekend! We hope you made it safe and have lots of fun new adventures in your new city!

Sunday we went to church, chilled, ran errands, and then David's mom and Hank came to see the nursery! Mom helped David figure out his sewing project (Tova's hat). They also brought us a gift from our close family in India - Pastor Chandra and his wife, Manjula.
Then we went to eat at the Mongolian Grill. It was good and the dessert was massive.

We hope you're also enjoying all the Christmas festivities!

Kallie was hoping to print new business cards with her Gocco machine, but the logo didn't turn out very well. Instead, she ordered them.

She's not here yet, I promise!

I imagine it'll be a few days before a new post gets up when Tova actually does arrive. But that's not the case this time. We rarely go a week without updating!

Basically, we've been running errands and researching stuff online to get all of the things for baby that we'll need. Gift cards and cash have been fantastic. Thank you!

Last Saturday we went to Keith and Sav's house in Brandon to watch the SEC championship. We were on edge the whole time, but were proud of our Gators pulling out a strong win. Sav cooked us dinner again. Delicious!

On Sunday we headed to Brandon again after church and had Cracker Barrel for lunch with David's dad, Louise, and Catherine. Yum. Then we ran an errand to Costco and got a most wonderful early Christmas present. ;) Let's just say Tova will be a movie star from day 1.

This week, Kallie's dad had to work in Orlando, so Kallie's mom came down for a couple of days, too. Tuesday night, we get all spiffed up and went to dinner at Ruth's Chris. It was a fun experience! We all had delicious food, of course, and had a really good time.

Mom brought down a book case that Kallie's dad made for the corner behind the nursery door. We needed some shelving for books and had no where else to put it! It fits perfectly and looks awesome. So excited!

Wednesday, Kallie drove to Orlando during the day and went to Ikea with her mom. They got Swedish meatballs to go for David as well as Lingonberry concentrate to make our own juice at home. Yum! And the nursery is one huge step closer to being done! We'll have pictures soon.

That afternoon, we went to another doc appointment. Really, no news. Kallie gained half a pound in the week and her blood pressure is still really good. However, the chocolate cake she ate at lunch made an appearance in her blood sugar. Whoops again! No news on whether Tova is big or small, anything about labor being sooner or later, nothing. Kallie is going to ask more questions next week. Maybe we'll have SOME news...we'll see.

That evening, we went to our church's Christmas Party! We had a lovely time with our new friends, ate way too many sweets, and headed home at a decent hour, since Kallie had been going and going all day! Our new buddies, Heather and Ian, brought Kallie a nursing cover that Ian's mom made. It's fantastic. ;) You should check out her etsy shop here. She's quite talented.

Yesterday Kallie did lots and lots of laundry, vacuumed half of our home (and then realized she shouldn't vacuum at 8+ months - thanks mom - and stopped), and did lots of cleaning and organizing. We had a whole trash bag full of plastic wraps, cardboard boxes and inserts, tags, etc. We also got all of our cloth diapers in the mail. Washing those today.

Then we went to Bible study and had probably the best one yet. We're really enjoying our group.

Tonight we go to help set up for our Christmas project that's tomorrow. More on that later.

Some photos:
Favorite outfits purchased:
#1 for David: a tiny Batman onesie

#2 for David: a navy nautical peacoat

#1 for Kallie: Tova's take-home outfit. Found in Brandon and then Kallie's mom took it home and sewed Tova's name on it in pink (the sheep was already there). Adorable.

A burp cloth Kallie made - one side bamboo, one side fleece. She's done working with bamboo. Too difficult!
